Cybersecurity firm Cyberfox Solutions acquired secure access service edge (SASE) vendor Timus Networks.
Cyberfox framed the acquisition towards its managed service provider (MSP) client base. CEO David Bellini said product consolidation was a key driver for its customers, adding: “Acquiring Timus allows us to immediately give our customers the secure network access they need with a tested best-in-class product. SASE, which includes zero trust network access (ZTNA), is an obvious solution to add to our portfolio. Timus has built exactly the platform we would have built ourselves.”
Timus was founded in 2021. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, the provider typifies SASE deployment with zero trust services, “always-on” VPN, and actionable insights for auditing.
The firm claims its USP is its small and medium enterprise (SME) focus with flexible pricing per user, and a multi-tenant partner portal delivered through a single dashboard.
The firm will continue to operate under the Timus brand within the CyberFox portfolio in the near term, while being integrated into CyberFox’s partner program and product roadmap over the coming quarters.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The SASE surge
Also headquartered in Tampa, CyberFox is a global cybersecurity solutions provider specializing in privileged access management (PAM), password management, and domain name service (DNS) filtering.
The company was formed in 2022 from the merger of password management vendor Password Boss and identity access management (IAM) firm AutoElevate. Both firms were acquired by an investor group led by CEO Bellini.
The Timus acquisition follows similar deals in the SASE space; optical transport vendor Ekinops acquired cybersecurity firm Chimere in March for its ZTNA pedigree.
Deloitte, meanwhile, expanded its global cybersecurity operations framework and advisory services with Netskope’s SASE and SSE capabilities.
Research powerhouse Gartner predicts the SASE market is projected to reach $28.5 billion by 2028, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26%, as enterprises upgrade their security and networking capabilities to meet modern cloud and AI adoption requirements.
