Versa Networks is expanding deeper into the Middle East and African markets today by partnering with Singapore-based cloud service provider OmniClouds.

OmniClouds will use Versa's Secure SD-WAN platform to connect small to midsized businesses (SMBs) in the expansive region to public and private clouds.

To do this, OmniClouds is installing Versa's SD-WAN gateways in each of the region's cloud data centers and peering locations. These will connect to gateways located in the enterprise data center.

Versa's SD-WAN technology is crucial to enabling this kind of connectivity over large geographic regions where multiple WAN technologies like MPLS, microwave, satellite, LTE, and public internet may be required, according to OmniClouds.

By abstracting the WAN technology, Versa's SD-WAN overlay allows customers to control security, user permissions, quality of service, and latency across any connection.

The technology drastically reduces the cost of deploying a hybrid-cloud environment in these regions, OmniClouds claimed.

Versa will also be rolling out its remote access platform on OmniClouds' network to provide secure communications to applications running in the cloud or data center without the need for a VPN or additional hardware.

This capability is in particularly high demand as employees find themselves working remotely, according to OmniClouds.

Versa has announced a series of SMB-focused service provider partnerships of late.

Last month, it revealed a partnership with managed service provider Telesystem and technology distributor Telarus to bring its Titan SD-WAN platform to SMBs. It also recently brought its Titan offering to London-based IT distributor Nuvias.

Moreover, the vendor lowered the barrier to adoption for enterprises of all sizes with the launch of its secure access service edge (SASE) platform earlier this year. Versa's SASE supports SD-WAN functionality, including quality of service and identity-based policy enforcement, for remote workers without the need for dedicated CPE hardware.

“It’s completely software only, meaning there’s a client that runs on Windows, Mac, iOS, and we’ll also be introducing an Android version,” Versa CMO Mike Wood said in an earlier interview. “We think this is pretty unique in that it enables SD-WAN all the way down to that client.”
