Viavi Solutions launched its Observer Threat Forensics breach detection solution to provide retrospective analysis for security incidents.
The threat detection tool combines secure network infrastructure and threat intelligence powered by CrowdStrike, and brings together packet insights, flow data, and log telemetry into a unified NetSecOps workflow. It's designed to assist organizations in identifying potential vulnerabilities, including post-detection analyses of a breach, the intrusion point, and the exposed data.
According to the company’s own "State of the Network" study, 79% of the 750 responding CIOs and CISOs sought convergence, believing the existing siloed model was ill-suited to modern networks and lacked key visibility, which could introduce risk. Just 27% of the surveyed organizations had started moving in that direction.
“That two-thirds of those wanting to switch still have not done so highlights the challenges organizations face when transitioning to a converged operational framework,” Chris Labac, VP and GM of network performance and threat solutions at VIAVI, explained. "Viavi’s Observer Threat Forensics leverages common datasets already collected for our network performance monitoring platform. Because the network traffic, enriched flow data, and metadata are already there, NetOps and SecOps can use the same data to gain performance insights and investigate security threats.”
The new tool comes after Viavi enhanced its XEdge edge monitoring platform with private 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi updates to provide visibility into private network performance.
Announced in January, the Arizona-headquartered firm touted consistent visibility into network performance and device connectivity with the updates, The update also added a new XEdge v2 sensor, which is described as a portable unit for in-depth monitoring, consisting of up to four cellular modems.
In response to quantum threats, Viavi is also creating frameworks and reference architectures for deploying quantum-safe security across telecom and enterprise networks.
In this partnership with quantum cybersecurity company QNu Labs, the duo will initially concentrate on practical test cases and deployment frameworks that organizations can use to evaluate quantum-safe security in live networks.
