Happy Friday, everyone! Here’s SDxCentral’s gathering of the week’s news bits around software-defined networking (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), and related topics.
... It's breakup season in tech, apparently. This week, after HP announced plans to split in two, Symantec said it would divide into security and storage halves. Some people have long thought Cisco should do likewise.
... Juniper Networks pre-announced that its third-quarter earnings would be lower than expected — in the range of $1.11 billion to $1.12 billion. Officials say the drop could be the result of lower demand from service providers. Juniper's earnings will be released on Oct. 23.
... Also pre-announcing disappointing financial results for its third-quarter was Riverbed Technology, estimating revenues of $276 million to $277 million, less than the projected $285 million to $291 million.
... Big Switch Networks became the first networking vendor to receive the OpenStack Foundation's OpenStack Compatible mark. The recognition is given to vendors that interoperate with recent releases of OpenStack software stack and can prove compatibility.
... Edgewater Networks added two new products to its line of enterprise session border controllers: the EdgeProtect Virtual Machine and the EdgeMarc 4750.
... Medallia, which provides SaaS-based customer experience management, has chosen Dell's Open Networking — Dell servers plus Cumulus Networks' Linux OS — to provide faster networking speeds and enhance customer experience.
... NTT Communications will offer immediate on-demand management of cloud-connected Internet and VPN circuits through the customer portal of its Enterprise Cloud service. It will also provide cloud-based settings for server and network segments in virtual servers.
... Midokura reached a reseller agreement with Penguin Computing that has the latter reselling Midokura's MidoNet throughout North America, starting immediately.
... ClusterHQ launched Flocker 0.2, a new version of the volume manager that adds network state awareness to Docker deployments.
... Fujitsu successfully demonstrated transport SDN interoperability as part of testing sponsored by the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF).

... Brocade's switch/router networking products are now being used by Advent One as its foundation of its latest managed cloud services enterprise offering. Brocade also announced the UAE Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has selected its switches to update the data center networking infrastructure in its Sharjah Court, the largest MoJ building in the UAE. Brocade's switches will also be used to modernize the court's disaster recovery site, which supports 13 other branches across the region.
... BTI Systems has added the BTI SA-805, a service access platform for high-capacity Ethernet access, to its portfolio of products for Ethernet business services and mobile backhaul.
