Proximus Global has unveiled Konera, a network API aggregation platform that provides enterprises with access to a multitude of mobile operators' programming interfaces.

Designed to align with the GSMA and Linux Foundation-backed Camara project, which unveiled its own new APIs this week, Konera provides developers with a single access point for standardized APIs.

Unveiled at Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai, India, Proximus’s platform leverages partnerships with mobile network operators struck through its Telesign and BICS brands to ensure access to an array of APIs. Konera is expected to bring API availability to 92% of India alone by the end of this year.

Proximus’s API push, combined with other industry efforts like Camara and the Ericsson-backed Aduna, comes as carriers and operators are looking to take advantage of using APIs to support services capable of generating significant revenue.

Juniper Research projects the global network API market will exceed $8 billion by 2030, compared to just $284 million in 2025. The research firm also provides figures that back up Proximus’s decision to target India, with the country projected to rank second globally for most network APIs by the end of the decade, with 36.7 billion. Only China, with 114 billion, is higher.

“Network APIs have long been seen as the telecoms industry’s next big opportunity, turning network assets into programmable components that developers can easily use for identity verification, fraud prevention, and improving user experience,” said Jorn Vercamert, CPO at Proximus Global. “But for APIs to succeed on a global scale, they must be standardized and easy to access. The GSMA’s CAMARA initiative addresses standardization, but operators still need support to make their networks API-ready, while enterprises need a single platform rather than dealing with hundreds of providers for coverage and features.

The launch comes after Proximus appointed Seckin Arikan as its new CEO last month. Arikan joined from Ericsson subsidiary Vonage, where he served as the cloud communication vendor’s head of business unit for APIs.
