Nasdaq experienced network disruption that affected each of its U.S. equities markets.

Per Reuters, the incident occurred at the stock exchange operator's Carteret, New Jersey facility, which a source described as a routine network issue as opposed to a failure of its internal systems.

According to an alert from Nasdaq, the disruption affected multiple multicast groups, impacting both hardware and software data feeds across Nasdaq, Nasdaq Texas, and Nasdaq PSX.

Nasdaq added that both the primary “A” and secondary “B” feeds originating from its Carteret facility were affected, with customers advised to switch to unaffected backup feeds from its Chicago facility.

Customers experiencing gaps in market data were also instructed to submit requests to recover the missing information, while Nasdaq said it was actively investigating the disruption.

In 2011, Cisco was selected as core network provider for Nasdaq, with Cisco's Nexus 5000 Series switches and Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders deployed at its Philadelphia facility.

Since 2021, Equinix has worked with Nasdaq to expand its digital infrastructure at the Carteret data center. That same year, Nasdaq partnered with Amazon Web Services to support the migration of its North American markets to the hyperscaler's platform.
