BARCELONA – Taiwanese computer hardware firm MSI extended its enterprise reach with the launch of an AI-centric virtualized radio access network (vRAN) stack.
As unveiled as this week’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona, the AI-vRAN solution is built like similar MSI wares on Nvidia MGX architecture, with MSI marketing the solution as complementary to the Nvidia AI Aerial suite.
The stack comprises MSI's CG480-S6053 and CG290-S3063 platforms, with the former touted for its AI inference strengths, and the latter for edge and distributed network deployments. In addition, the 2U CX271-S4056 platform (HE SKU) handles balanced data processing for AI workloads, focusing on compute efficiency and system balance needs.
An MSI representative at MWC confirmed the stack as designed for open RAN and private 5G, alongside vRAN environments, with the solution marking MSI’s first foray into the telecom market as it continues its enterprise efforts to complement the consumer and gaming efforts it's best known for.
On the announcement, Danny Hsu, GM of enterprise platform solutions at MSI, commented: “AI is rapidly reshaping the telecommunications landscape, and MSI is focused on helping operators build scalable network architectures that support diverse applications, including voice, data, video streaming, and AI workloads through a unified infrastructure. This AI-powered vRAN architecture delivers greater flexibility for 5G and future 6G deployments while accelerating time-to-market for new services.”
