Kyndryl unveiled its Data and AI Console to help simplify data management through artificial intelligence (AI) and build organizational trust in using data to support business decisions.

Naveen Kamat, CTO of Data and AI Services at Kyndryl, said the console is targeted at customers who aspire to be more data-driven. He cited a Frost and Sullivan study that found 48% of all data decision-makers and 73% of CEOs agree that deriving value from data is their top priority and essential to remaining competitive.

The console uses an open and modular architecture to integrate with an organization's existing tools while supporting modernization goals, Kamat told SDxCentral.

The goal of the console is to help declutter data pathways and power modern architectural paradigms, such as the data fabric and the data mesh, he said. It also provides organizations with end-to-end visibility of their data environments, and can predict irregularities and data incidents.

Using AI in data operations brings in intelligence through metadata activation, meaning augmenting existing metadata through AI or machine learning (ML) to be able to infer new metadata from it. The Kyndryl product uses AI to "proactively detect data drifts, data incidents, and it can use knowledge graphs to arrive at the next best action for data reliability and assess downstream impact,” Kamat explained.

Kyndryl Bridge AIOps Service Extends to Mainframe Customers

Kyndryl will also be extending the AIOps functionality of Kyndryl Bridge for its mainframe customers, which will allow organizations to integrate operational data whether it resides on the mainframe or in the cloud.

Kyndryl Bridge, which was launched in November, is a digital integration platform that gives IT teams and business leaders control over their mission-critical operations and insight into complex environments. The integration of AI and ML will allow for faster troubleshooting, reduce the number of millions of instructions per second (MIPS) used, automate tasks, and give recommendations for the removal of redundant software.

Mainframes are often the core of the hybrid-cloud environment, running mission-critical applications that are tightly connected with multiple platforms, Petra Goude, global practice leader for Kyndryl Core Enterprise and Cloud, said in a company blog.

“As Kyndryl's mainframe solutions are now fully aligned with integrated AIOps, the automations allow operational mainframe data to be incorporated into the platform,” Goude wrote. “This enables a new and optimized way of working by providing a holistic and unified experience across the enterprise, supported by data and artificial intelligence.”
