GigaSpaces today released the latest version of its open source multi-cloud orchestration software — Cloudify 3.4.

GigSpaces offers its Cloudify software as both an open source community edition and also as a commercial premium product for customers that want support, maintenance, training, and other services along with the orchestration software.

The Cloudify software includes two product lines, one for enterprises and one for service providers.

The service provider software includes some NFV management and network orchestration (MANO) code that is being used by some familiar names, including Open-O, OPNFV, and AT&T. GigaSpaces previewed the telco-tailored version of its Cloudify orchestration platform late last month.

“It’s a telecom-targeted product for NFV orchestration,” says Arthur Berezin, GigaSpace’s director of products.

On the ETSI NFV MANO diagram, Cloudify sits at the network functions virtualization orchestrator (NFVO) and the virtual network functions manager (VNFM). Cloudify is based on the Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications (TOSCA) standard.

But the Cloudify software — at Version 3.4 today — encompasses more than NFV MANO for service providers. A second product line is targeted at enterprises looking for a hybrid cloud orchestrator.

For example, a big financial company might choose it if it wants to expand into OpenStack and needs to manage and orchestrate its applications across clouds. With Cloudify it won't have to write software for each platform.

Release 3.4 includes plug-ins for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Compute Platform (GCP), OpenStack, and VMware. It also includes support for cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker. This makes the platform capable of orchestrating containers and non-containerized stacks.

Cloudify 3.4 also comes with a new set of features to push updates to both the application and the infrastructure itself.
