Fujitsu and Nutanix have launched a new cloud adoption service following Fujitsu’s migration of its service operations virtualization platform to Nutanix’s cloud platform.

The Japanese giant claimed to have completed the migration across two months using the Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) solution, specifically Primeflex for Nutanix. Designed by Fujitsu with Nutanix, Primeflex is a hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solution that combines Fujitsu's server hardware with NCP.

According to Fujitsu, the migration from its previous, unnamed provider has achieved around 30% in reductions of implementation costs, and a 90% reduction in labor hours for post-migration updates to the service platform.

Off the back of the migration, Fujitsu is offering Japanese firms a new offering in its Mission Critical Transformation Service, touting end-to-end NCP migration support.

The service will see Fujitsu’s expertise from the recent migration alongside Nutanix services in workload optimization, compatibility assessment, and performance tuning via its Nutanix Move migration tool.

Fujitsu reported an expected yield of around $98 million over the next five years through the new service, while promising to expand support for migrations to other Fujitsu cloud platforms.

“Organizations across industries are seeking faster, more secure ways to migrate and modernize their infrastructure while maintaining business continuity,” Jay Tuseth, VP and GSM for Asia Pacific Japan at Nutanix, explained. “Our collaboration with Fujitsu will deliver exactly that – an enterprise-grade migration service built on the Nutanix Cloud Platform … enabling smooth transitions from existing virtual environments and helping customers unlock the full potential of hybrid multicloud.”

Nods for Nutanix

Nutanix garnered praise from Gartner's latest Magic Quadrant for distributed hybrid infrastructure (DHI). The firm has found itself on good footing to win over displaced VMware users frustrated by rising costs and what the research firm described as deteriorating customer support.

Nutanix was positioned closest to VMware in the "Leaders" quadrant, with its DHI offering’s single-stack approach recommended by Gartner for simple implementation and its identical operational model for applications and data, whether based across the edge, private data centers, or in public clouds.

In light of troubles in the VMware ecosystem, Nutanix CFO Rukmini Sivaraman recently told investors that Nutanix expects “mid- to high-three digits” worth of customers per quarter in fiscal year 2026.

Last month, the firm added former Intel CTO Greg Lavender to its board of directors to further fuel its scale-up efforts, while announcing an expansion of its Dell partnership, which saw Dell PowerStore’s all-flash storage integrated into NCP.
