Extreme Networks has fully launched its Extreme Platform One, an agentic AI-focused network visualization offering.

Revealed back in February, the platform is now generally available, with the vendor claiming it can enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual work by up to 90%.

Its multitenant architecture and network topology allow users to simplify onboarding while also supporting network expansions

Extreme touts Platform One as a way for network operators to identify bandwidth spikes and security threats, a boon considering the rise in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. Users can set guardrails around risk and compliance, while the system works to optimize performance and reliability.

Extreme President and CEO Ed Meyercord likened the platform to having a “built-in network engineer, always on and always optimizing, freeing up the time of your IT team to focus on more innovative and critical tasks.”

Extreme’s Platform One is the latest in an ever-growing list of agentic AI applications being targeted at networks.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) last month added some agentic AI management capabilities to its GreenLake platform, which provides root-cause analysis for network and security issues.

The increasing encroachment of agentic AI, or AI agents, marks the latest in the ongoing AI hype cycle, with a recent Gartner report suggesting that some applications were purely rebrands of existing AI chatbots and robotic process automation tools.
