Equinix’s VP of network platform engineering departed the colocation giant to join Capital One.

Nico Strina joined Equinix back in 2022, serving across a handful of roles, culminating in a VP position responsible for developing network hardware and software stacks alongside increasing network efficiency.

Strina departs to serve as Capital One’s managing VP for enterprise connectivity engineering.

Confirming his Equinix exit, the exec said in a LinkedIn post: “To the teams and colleagues I’ve worked alongside: thank you for everything we accomplished together. I’m proud of the work we did and grateful for the relationships built along the way.”

Strina has enjoyed a storied career in the digital infrastructure space, with his CV including notable roles at French B2B hosting platform Jaguar Network as its CTO; director of global infrastructure development at streaming platform Twitch; and head of network infrastructure at Twilio.

Strina departs Equinix at a time when the colocation giant is doubling down on the network through sovereignty-focused Fabric Geo Zones and Fabric One managed connectivity service set to take on the network-as-a-service (NaaS) space.

“Thank you to my new colleagues at Capital One for the warm welcome. It’s been great getting to know the team, and I’m looking forward to what we’ll build together,” Strina wrote.
