AI data center company Crusoe is adding an edge offering to its repertoire.
The company revealed this week that it will soon offer "Crusoe Edge Zones" – modular AI factories that can be deployed at "virtually any location."
The edge offering will be based on Crusoe's proprietary Crusoe Spark modular data centers, for which the company has also launched a manufacturing facility.
In a blog post, Crusoe noted that through modular construction methods, the company will be able to speed up deployment, while distributed compute will be necessary as AI moves from training to inference. "As AI becomes embedded in the fabric of the economy, it cannot simply live in a few massive, distant hubs. To be truly useful, intelligence must be everywhere," the company wrote.
According to Crusoe, the Edge Zones will enable customers to deploy Crusoe Spark units in areas not served by hyperscalers and neoclouds. The units will be fully assembled and cover the entire AI stack, including cloud orchestration, and offering the full Crusoe Cloud platform and Managed Inference services. According to the company, each Crusoe Spark unit can be brought online in just three months.
“Crusoe Edge Zones powered by Crusoe Spark represent the continued expansion of our vertically integrated ‘AI Factory’ vision," Cully Cavness, co-founder, president, and chief strategy officer of Crusoe, explained. “By optimizing these modular AI factories to run both the Crusoe Cloud platform and our Managed Inference product, we are delivering a high-performance, distributed solution that provides the speed, sovereignty, and quality that the next generation of AI requires.”
The Edge Zones are targeting those looking for low-latency AI compute, customers seeking on-premises levels of control of a cloud environment, and organizations with strict sovereignty requirements. The units are described as turnkey and can come in customized configurations.
The first Spark units are expected to be completed later this year.
To produce the Crusoe Spark units, the company has set up its "Spark Factory" in Brighton, Colorado.
Spanning 352,000-square feet (32,700-square meters), the facility is hoped to bring more than 200 local jobs to the area. The factory, along with the first fleet of Crusoe Sparks, has seen the company invest some $200 million.
The facility will enable Crusoe "to move beyond traditional construction methods to deliver AI infrastructure in a modular productized form factor with velocity,” Cavness noted.
“By manufacturing modular data center units in-house, we can rapidly scale our Crusoe Cloud and Managed Inference offerings," Cavness added. "The Crusoe Spark AI factory enables our customers across a variety of use cases, including low-latency inference, [on-premises] deployments, sovereign AI, and grouped training clusters. Crusoe Spark units represent the continued expansion of our vertically-integrated, energy-first vision for AI infrastructure, enabling us to quickly respond to customer demand with unique and innovative product offerings.”
In February 2026, Crusoe revealed it would be deploying modular data centers at Energy Vault's technology center in Snyder, Texas. The initial deployment is expected to scale up to 25 megawatts (MW).
