Cisco ThousandEyes debuted a border gateway protocol (BGP) monitoring feature designed to give businesses greater visibility into their internal networks.
Enterprise Routing Assurance does what public BGP monitors can’t do: observe routes that are solely inside an enterprise network. It uses a dedicated agent system that collates BGP telemetry via ThousandEyes. The agent-based BGP route collector essentially acts as an extra layer for network operations (NetOps) teams, allowing them to examine routing workloads and understand disruptions with greater efficiency.
Cisco ThousandEyes already supports private BGP monitoring through peering with ThousandEyes-hosted collectors. The Enterprise Routing Assurance offering is designed to save engineers from having to piece together commands, logs, and performance data solely to investigate internal routing events.
The offering works across private IP address spaces and can help validate connectivity in the event of planned downtime, failovers, and routing incidents, correlating route announcements with network and application performance.
“By extending ThousandEyes intelligence deeper into the enterprise network, teams gain the context to investigate disruptions faster, validate changes, and confirm recovery with confidence,” a company blog post reads.
