IPronics founder Daniel Pérez-López is taking the reins at the Spanish optical networking startup, with the company confirming the current CTO will take over as CEO from Christian Dupont.
A short statement confirms the executive reshuffle, though no word was provided on Dupont’s departure. A statement from Amelia Armour, a partner from iPronics backer Amadeus Capital Partners, thanked Dupont for leading the company for the last two years.
The rejig also sees former Flex Logix CEO Geoffrey Tate appointed as chairman of the board. The exec previously spent decades leading AMD’s microprocessor efforts and now also serves on the board of co-packaged optics (CPO) developer Ayar Labs.
The leadership changes come just a few weeks after iPronics raised $125 million in a Series B round that included backing from Nvidia. The startup, which is developing optical circuit switching platforms for use across AI data center networks, is actively scaling operations to ready its rack-mounted optical switch for commercial deployment.
IPronics will now be led by one of its founders, with Pérez-López forming the company back in 2019 as a spin out of Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain. Prior to iPronics, the now CEO served a short stint as a photonic integrated circuit designer at Xanadu.
“Maverick Silicon co-led iPronics’ Series B based on our conviction in [Pérez-López]’s exceptional technical achievements and leadership. We are confident he is the right leader to take iPronics to its next stage of growth, backed by [Tate]’s deep operating experience and proven track record of scaling semiconductor companies,” Maverick Silicon Senior Managing Director Manish Muthal noted.
