U.K.-based Cambridge Broadband Networks Group (CBNG) has unveiled the latest iteration of its Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) platform.

Dubbed VectaStar NR, the offering features licensed millimeter-wave (mmWave) spectrum and a Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) architecture, enabling operators to provide what the vendor describes as “fiber-like” broadband to multiple sites, including homes, businesses, and campuses from one central hub.

“Operators are under intense pressure to expand coverage and capacity faster, while controlling costs. VectaStar NR brings together the performance of 5G, the efficiency of point-to-multipoint, and the predictability of licensed spectrum to make high-capacity fixed wireless access a practical, scalable option for the next phase of network growth,” said CBNG CEO Nedko Ivanov.

Designed for mobile and fixed operators and wireless ISPs, VectaStar NR can provide multi-gigabit performance over sizable distances via beam-forming phased-array antennas housed in a compact form factor.

The vendor claims its FWA platform can be easily integrated into existing networks, while its PtMP capabilities mean multiple customers can lower the total cost of ownership by sharing a single hub.

According to CBNG’s website, the platform supports mmWave Spectrum bands, including n260 (37–40 GHz), as well as frequency bands still in development like n257 (26.5–29.5.5 GHz), n258 (24.25–27.5 GHz), and n261 (27.5–28.35 GHz). British carriers spent some $52 million on mmWave spectrum during Ofcom's auction last October, as demand for high-speed, high-capacity continues to rise.

CBNG said that with its VectaStar NR platform, operators can deploy private 5G networks for use cases like security needs, CCTV, and campus-wide connectivity.

Ivanov added: “Today’s world runs on AI, cloud computing, and HD streaming, yet for many communities and businesses, the last mile of connectivity remains a major bottleneck. Traditional fibre is expensive and can be slow and disruptive to deploy, while conventional wireless solutions often struggle to keep pace with rapidly growing data demands.

“VectaStar NR reimagines how high-capacity broadband is delivered. We can provide fiber-grade connectivity over the air, without the cost and disruption of digging up streets and laying cables.”

CBNG will showcase VectaStar NR at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona in March.
