Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to continue its agent love-in with the reveal of an AI-powered service that the hyperscaler claims can unearth contextual recommendations the way a cloud architect would.
The aptly named Well-Architected Agent can sift through a business’s AWS environment to generate recommendations for improving cost, security, and performance. The agent assesses workloads across more than 65 AWS services by automatically tying together usage metrics, setup details, and system topology to best practices to without the need for manual audits.
AWS claims the platform provides findings “with specific dollar impact” alongside step-by-step remediation. Users can state business objectives, like cost-savings, which the agent then uses as a baseline while generating recommendations. And to avoid exposing potentially sensitive information, AWS said engineers can define the scope of what Well-Architected Agent can and cannot access.
“[Well-Architected Agent] generates recommendations aligned to your declared business goals, delivers implementation packages with every finding, and surfaces cross-pillar trade-offs, making it simpler to remediate the findings,” an AWS blog claims.
The platform is available in preview for users in U.S. East (N. Virginia), U.S. East (Ohio), and U.S. West (Oregon).
Well-Architected Agent is one of an ever-growing number of agentic AI offerings from AWS as it vies to use the industry’s hot new thing as a means to make it easier for users to manage their cloud environments.
Earlier agent efforts from the hyperscaler include Transform, which is aimed at application modernization across Windows and mainframe platforms – pitched also as a means to migrate away from VMware. And late September saw the release of Strands harness, touted as a way to help developers move coding architecture from local premises to the cloud.
All of its agent efforts have been positioned as a means to slash costs while making processes easier, and Well-Architected Agent looks to continue that trend.
