SolarWinds launched a cloud-native observability software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that works to unify an organization's understanding and visibility across modern, distributed, hybrid, and multicloud environments.

According to SolarWinds CEO Sudhakar Ramakrishna, “we are the best vendor to address these market challenges,” he said during a virtual showcase. “If you look at the broad spectrum of monitoring capabilities and the world-class and award-winning technology assets we have built over time, there is no other vendor in the market that can unite these capabilities like we do.”

The observability platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to manage complex IT environments and blends SolarWinds' observability tools focused on network, infrastructure, systems, application, database, digital experience, and log monitoring into one end-to-end offering for public and private cloud environments.

“We realize we need to evolve,” Ramakrishna added, citing the company's 300,000 customers dealing with the explosion of remote work, applications, and distributed teams.

According to Chief Product Office Rohini Kasturi, SolarWinds' platform lets organizations “evolve from monitoring to observability to autonomous operations across distributed clouds at your own pace, and with the simplicity and support that SolarWinds is known for,” he said during the virtual presentation.

Kasturi explained the platform collects “a rich set of holistic data and telemetry-type logs, metrics, traces, and events from the entire service delivery system and all your private and public cloud infrastructure, covering all users, networks, devices, applications, and services.” This provides insights and visibility across the full tech stack and allows customers to “visualize, analyze, remediate, and automate operations across hybrid and multicloud environments as they evolve from monitoring to observability to autonomous operations,” he explained.

The hybrid cloud observability tool now boasts “critical enhancements” based on the vendor's conversations with customers after the initial launch earlier this year. These new capabilities include eliminating tool sprawl, reducing alert fatigue and risk, “comprehensive” AIOps features, and “seamless migration for our entire install base,” Kasturi explained.

To that point, he noted, “hybrid cloud observability provides an essential on-ramp to the cloud.” The updates also include integrations with the vendor's security event manager and access rights manager products to address security observability use cases.

In addition, SolarWinds is introducing a SaaS version of its observability offering, which is integrated into the hybrid cloud observability service. “This is crucial in supporting customers at all stages of their cloud migration journey, so that we can protect their investments and be cloud ready without the need to rip and replace,” Kasturi said.
