Rackspace rolled out five new enhancements to its hybrid-cloud portfolio today aimed at helping customers accelerate their IT migrations.

The company's newly announced hybrid-cloud offerings range the gamut from managed guest operating systems and application migration to cloud-native and container support services, managed security, and application and data integration. These hybrid-cloud services allow customers to reduce the complexity of deploying, integrating, and managing applications.

According to Rackspace, these developments were driven by the increasing number of enterprises embracing a hybrid-cloud strategy.

"With a growing amount of customers looking for hybrid-cloud solutions, we’re accelerating our capabilities in both private and public cloud to continue to provide our clients with the best fit infrastructure based on their workload needs, to maximize effectiveness and return on investment," said Ramakant Pandrangi, VP of product management at Rackspace, in an email to SDxCentral.

The core theme of today's announcement was management and support services for enterprises looking to adopt hybrid cloud and cloud-native technologies.

"This is a significant announcement in helping IT departments navigate a hybrid-cloud strategy taking the best private and public clouds, helping them figure out what's the best place for those workloads and also helping them run it," said Pandrangi, in a phone interview with SDxCentral.

Rackspace is expanding its managed services for VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support VMware's HCX application migration and mobility software, and introduced managed guest OS services.

According to Pandrangi, the service could be particularly helpful for customers looking to migrate their workloads from their existing VMware environment to VMware Cloud on AWS.

On the security front, the company unveiled new features for Rackspace Managed Security (RMS) including proactive detection and response, and compliance assistance services for customers on VMware private clouds. Rackspace is also rolling out RMS services for managed public cloud customers with plans to expand support for native security tools to all leading public clouds beginning with AWS.

Rackspace announced new support and management offerings for customers looking to implement container technologies like Kubernetes. As part of this, the company unveiled its Cloud Reliability Service Block, which allows customers to leverage Rackspace's engineering team to plan and facilitate the switch to cloud-native technologies.

"As customers look to leverage the more complex aspects of hybrid cloud, like API led application integrations, they see value in working with us to offload the complexities and create a hybrid technology stack that is tailored to their workload needs," Pandrangi wrote.

Today's announcement also included a new integration and API management assessment aimed at helping customers evaluate the current state of application and data integration across an organization. This assessment is designed to provide customers insights into their integration needs and recommendations for next steps. This enables customers to identify new business models, accelerate product and services, and improve customer experiences.
