"Don't just pick a[n edge] vendor and go that route," Gartner Analyst Thomas Bittman warned.

Public cloud market growth will be hard, Forrester Analyst Lee Sustar said, regardless of an economic recession.

The edge platform IBM is building for India's Bharti Airtel will bring low-latency edge computing to customers, according to Shawn D'Souza.

IT and business leaders consistently make the same mistakes when designing a cloud strategy, the research firm notes.

Gartner says Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Google continued to reign as leading cloud infrastructure and platform services providers.

"The iPhone was new in its market – the smartphone – and created [that] market, and we are the same way," Vantiq CEO Marty Sprinzen said.
