Kevin Mandia Joins SpecterOps Board
Kevin Mandia, founder of Mandiant, has been appointed as the chair of SpecterOps’ Board of Directors. This move aligns with the company's growth strategy for its Attack Path Management solution, which focuses on improving enterprise security.
Mandia emphasized the importance of understanding adversary perspectives in cybersecurity, stating, “SpecterOps reminds me of Mandiant in its early days – they know how adversaries see the world and they understand why a secure identity architecture is important.” He highlighted that the complexity of identity security is pressing and underscored the potential of SpecterOps' approach to mitigate these challenges.
SpecterOps has reported substantial growth in its BloodHound Enterprise (BHE) security solution, designed to defend Microsoft Active Directory and related environments. The company has witnessed a product revenue increase exceeding 78% year-over-year in Q2 2024, alongside a 125% rise in new customer acquisition. Overall employee growth has also surged by 40% within the past year.
“We continue to see huge interest in BloodHound Enterprise from security executives that need practical solutions to Identity Attack Paths,” said CEO David McGuire. He expressed that Mandia’s strategic guidance will be critical as SpecterOps aims to standardize Attack Path Management within enterprise security.
The federal government sector is identified as a key area for expansion. SpecterOps anticipates receiving its FedRAMP High Authority to Operate later this month via a partnership with Palantir FedStart. Given the prevalence of Identity Attack Paths in government agencies, BHE aims to address these vulnerabilities and enhance security measures.
Furthermore, the company has broadened its offerings by introducing new training courses on Identity-Driven Offensive Tradecraft and updating several open-source projects. The addition of hybrid Attack Paths to BHE is designed to enhance security by tracking how attackers can navigate between on-prem and cloud environments.
BloodHound Community Edition has gained traction as a leading tool for modeling attack paths within Microsoft environments, now recognized by numerous organizations and recommended by both Microsoft and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
