TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--1Password, a leader in identity security, has appointed Abe Ankumah as Chief Product Officer (CPO), effective immediately. A seasoned entrepreneur and product leader of Fortune 500 companies, Ankumah will drive the continued growth and innovation of 1Password Extended Access Management, the platform that secures every sign-in, to every app, from any device. “As security challenges grow more complex, strong product leadership is critical to delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions,” said Jeff Shiner, Co-CEO of 1Password. “Abe’s experience as a founder, product innovator, and business leader, who has scaled companies from early-stage to enterprise, makes him the ideal choice to help shape the future of Extended Access Management and execute our product roadmap. As AI-driven applications and autonomous agents begin transforming enterprise workflows, securing both human and AI identities is more critical than ever. Abe’s leadership will ensure 1Password stays ahead in delivering solutions that protect organizations from evolving access and credential security risks.” Ankumah brings extensive experience in enterprise SaaS, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and enterprise infrastructure, with a proven track record of driving product innovation and market expansion. Most recently, he served as Vice President and General Manager at VMware, leading the VeloCloud SD-WAN/SASE business. Prior to that, he was the CEO and co-founder of Nyansa, an AI-driven network analytics company acquired by VMware in 2020. His career includes leadership roles at Meraki (acquired by Cisco) and Aruba Networks. Ankumah was a founding engineering team member at Fulcrum Microsystems (acquired by Intel) and began his career as a research engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the California Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. “As 1Password champions Extended Access Management, my focus will be on delivering a seamless, secure, and scalable platform that meets the needs of the modern workplace – where identity is increasingly the top attack vector, further exacerbated by the rise of AI agents operating without proper oversight,” said Abe Ankumah. “We have an opportunity as we redefine how organizations protect identities, devices, and applications. I’m excited to work with the team, and build on the 1Password customer-focused culture, to deliver and scale a platform that mitigates security risks posed by unmanaged devices and applications accessing company data.” Ankumah’s appointment comes at a time of strong growth and strategic investment in 1Password’s product and executive leadership team. Over the past year, the company has expanded its executive bench to ensure long-term success in identity security, including the appointment of David Faugno as co-CEO, Jeannie De Guzman as COO, and Greg Henry as CFO. As Chief Product Officer, Ankumah will oversee product strategy, execution, and innovation, working closely with 1Password’s engineering, security, and design teams. Recent advancements in the 1Password Extended Access Management platform include the acquisition of Trelica, expanding capabilities of application discovery and access governance, and strengthened integrations with CrowdStrike, AWS, and Microsoft, enhancing the platform’s ecosystem and market reach in enterprise security.
