Wind River has unveiled enhancements to its Studio Operator product, aimed at improving 5G and enterprise networks. The latest release focuses on advanced automation, optimization for virtual Radio Access Networks (vRAN), and a reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO). Omdia has ranked Wind River Studio Operator as the leading cloud infrastructure solution in its most recent Open vRAN Market Tracker report, highlighting its significance in the sector.
Rémy Pascal, Senior Research Manager for Mobile Infrastructure at Omdia, noted that key factors driving open vRAN adoption are the ability for service providers to select the best components, increased flexibility, and improved management capabilities. “Wind River Studio Operator aligns with these priorities and established itself as the leading solution,” said Pascal.
Sandeep Modhvadia, Chief Product Officer of Wind River, emphasized the importance of advanced automation for operators to effectively manage increased demands and cybersecurity challenges. The updated Studio Operator delivers enhanced automation and intelligence, aimed at improving operational expenditures (OpEx), network health, and overall reliability.
The release includes significant improvements in automation, operational scale, and power management analytics. Enhancements to automation have reportedly increased efficiency up to 10 times for day two operations across networks, while deployment efficiency and subcloud resiliency have also improved.
Wind River will showcase these innovations at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, with details available on their participation.
