Vodafone IoT has appointed Dennis Nikles as its managing director for the Americas.

The exec joins the company after a four-year stint as CEO for Deutsche Telekom IoT, with experience at various subsidiaries of the German giant, beginning his career at T-Systems in 2005 as a senior system engineer, before progressing to a head of solution design role in 2011.

Following a one-year stint as a presales director at Freudenberg Information Services, the IT arm of chemicals specialist Freudenberg Group, Nikles rejoined T-Systems in 2012 as VP for solutions & projects. After three years in this role, he joined Deutsche Telekom IoT as head of global sales, before becoming CEO in 2021.

His new title as managing director for the Vodafone Americas appears to be a new position for the firm, and will be based in Dusseldorf, Germany. Vodafone IoT claims to connect more than 215 million devices worldwide, with office locations including the U.S., U.K., Portugal, Spain, and Italy.

“I am excited to join Vodafone IoT at such a pivotal moment for the industry,” Nikles said on his appointment. “IoT is no longer just about connecting devices – it is about enabling businesses to be more competitive, innovative, and sustainable. With Vodafone IoT’s global scale, local expertise, and commitment to customer success, I look forward to working with our partners and clients across the Americas to unlock new opportunities and deliver real business value.”
