VMware's VeloCloud SD-WAN platform will power Windstream's newly announced Kinetic Business SD-WAN offering.
The managed service provider wants to make it easier for small and midsize businesses (SMBs) with distributed footprints to take advantage of SD-WAN capabilities such as quality of service (QoS) and network failover.
“Our customers have asked for greater simplicity and control over their networks, and with this partnership we are delivering an industry-leading solution easily managed from a web interface or a mobile device,” said Joe Johnson, VP of product development and management for Kinetic, in a statement.
The service can be deployed across multiple branch locations without the need for manual configurations or provisioning, and once installed, customers can take advantage of features including visibility between branch locations, headquarters, data centers, or the cloud.
Windstream sees businesses using the VMware VeloCloud QoS capabilities to prioritize critical applications like point of sale or online ordering, while enabling value-added services like public WiFi or streaming video to their customers. Users will also be able to take advantage of additional WAN links, whether they be broadband, MPLS, or cellular for failover in case of network disruptions.
GTT Brings Silver Peak-Powered SD-WAN to AmericaManaged service provider GTT last week took its relationship with Silver Peak to the next level, extending the availability of its SD-WAN product to the American market.
GTT had previously offered Silver Peak's Unity EdgeConnect-based platform in the European market where it is used by more than 100 clients. The service provider claims the offering is "ideally suited" to meet the needs of globally distributed enterprises thanks in part to Silver Peak's Unity Boost WAN optimization capabilities, which are designed to improve application performance and reduce costs.
“We’ve now extended the GTT SD-WAN offering in the Americas region to include a Silver Peak option, ensuring the same broad choice of technology options is available for all our clients across the globe,” said GTT CEO, Rick Calder, in a statement.
