Podcasting platform and audio-as-a-service (AaaS) firm SoundStack unveiled plans to expand its global content delivery network (CDN).
SoundStack already operates its own CDN within a dozen data centers around the world, with the service set to be expanded with boosted capabilities to bring audio processing closer to listeners and content creators.
By processing audio at the Edge, SoundStack’s CDN provides reduced listening latency while also enabling content providers to support features like geotargeted ads and content personalization without impacting performance.
Hosting platforms can also leverage the CDN while maintaining their own content management systems (CMS) and user interfaces, which the company contends helps to simplify production and accelerate time-to-market.
“In audio, it’s easy to overlook how critical physical server proximity is to delivering a seamless listening experience," SoundStack CEO Jon Stephenson explained. "Low latency, fast ad decisioning, and scalable ad stitching are essential for podcasting (and streaming) success, but many platforms and media companies simply don’t have the infrastructure or resources to manage it.
“With SoundStack’s enhanced CDN and purpose-built applications, they don’t have to. We’ve built it so they can focus on what matters most: their content, audience, and core publishing features.”
The firm owns and operates its own CDN in facilities across New York, Tokyo, and Singapore, with the service recently boosted through new points of presence in London and Sydney. More are planned for later this year.
