Solidigm has unveiled one of the first liquid-cooled enterprise solid state drives (eSSDs) at the GTC Artificial intelligence (AI) Conference, a development aimed at supporting fully fanless GPU servers. The innovative features of this eSSD are designed to eliminate the need for traditional cooling solutions, which have previously limited liquid-cooled server deployments.
The new liquid cooling technology addresses issues faced by traditional solid-state drives that restrict cooling capabilities and hot swapping. Solidigm collaborated with NVIDIA to enhance the cooling solutions essential for eSSDs, enabling a more efficient and compact server design.
At GTC 2025, Solidigm is demonstrating the cold-plate cooled eSSDs featuring the Solidigm D7-PS1010 E1.S 9.5mm form factor. “Solidigm shows how the combination of an innovative Solidigm E1.S SSD and liquid cold-plate kit deliver benefits in thermal efficiency while maintaining data center grade serviceability,” said Kevin Noh, Co-CEO of Solidigm.
The Solidigm E1.S solid-state drive (SSD) and cold-plate kit are expected to be available for AI servers in the second half of this year. This addition continues Solidigm’s trend of packaging innovations alongside the introduction of the “ruler” form factor SSDs.
Additionally, the Solidigm D7-PS1010 E1.S will come in a 15mm form factor to provide further design flexibility for air-cooled systems. Attendees of the GTC Conference can see this technology demonstrated at Solidigm's exhibit.
