... EMC unveiled a hyper-converged infrastructure appliance this week, based on VMware's EVO:RAIL. Dubbed VSPEX BLUE, the new product will work with EMC management software and a white-box server. VSPEX BLUE will be the first product from EMC's converged infrastructure business unit.
... Nutanix announced that its bookings run rate, surpassed $300 million for the quarter ended Jan. 31.
... Internap made its OpenStack-powered AgileCLOUD available at its New York metro area data center.
... ClusterHQ closed a $12 million round of Series A funding led by Accel Partners.
... Reuters reported that AT&T is planning to sell off $2 billion worth of data centers.
... The (unconfirmed) word on the street is that semiconductor startup Tabula is shutting down as of March. Tabula had raised more than $100 million to develop a new type of field-programmable chip.
... Vitesse released new additions to its 10-Gb/s Ethernet PHY portfolio.
... Allot Communications announced a cloud optimization product with Microsoft Office 365 support.
... Michael Strople, president of Allstream, joined the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) as its new chairman of the board. Ken Countway, VP at Comcast, and Alessandro Talotta, CEO of Telecom Italia Sparkle, were added to the board as well.
... Adara Networks said its SDN, NFV, and cloud management platform was selected by Equivoice.
... The most recent annual update of the Cisco Virtual Networking Index (VNI) Global Mobile Forecast showed significant mobile traffic growth, thanks to the burgeoning adoption of more powerful mobile devices and M2M connections. Included as a sub-segment of the M2M connections category are wearable devices. The number of wearable devices grew five-fold globally, with the biggest distribution of devices anticipated in North America and Asia Pacific.
... Piston and ActiveState Software are partnering to offer a product that will allow agile development teams to easily stand up at a production-ready private cloud environment.
... Guavus welcomed Gabriele Di Piazza as its senior VP of marketing and David Nicholas as senior VP of sales.
