Radisys and Sanctum Networks have been showing an integration of Radisys’ FlowEngine with Sanctum Networks’ SDN controller during this week’s SDN & OpenFlow World Congress.
The joint SDN platform, which is based on the OpenFlow 1.3 protocol, enables communication service providers to deliver services such as voice, video-on demand, and high-speed data with real-time visibility while also reducing costs and complexities. Since the combined offering, which Radisys is calling an “SDN-enabled network services platform,” is open source, it also allows for third-party integration.
Radisys’ FlowEngine Intelligent Traffic Distribution System’s data plane processing capabilities work in combination with Sanctum’s SDN orchestrator. Ray Adensamer, director of marketing with Radisys, says the two companies are in discussions in regard to proof of concept (PoC) trials.
Adensamer says the integration with Dublin-based Sanctum was a quick turnaround due to the use of OpenFlow, and because Radisys and Sanctum first formed their partnership last fall.
“This is a big milestone for Radisys,” he says. “This is the first time we’re showing our technology in action in an open event.”
Last month Hillsboro, Ore.-based Radisys announced a partnership with EZchip to scale video deployments.
