Pertino said today it will team up with Dell by offering its Cloud Network Engine service within the Dell Cloud Marketplace next year. The Marketplace — a vendor-neutral, self-service portal — aims to give developers the flexibility they want from the cloud and still allow IT managers to have control of the cloud services used by the IT organization.
Pertino's Cloud Network Engine will let Dell's customers quickly build virtual private cloud (VPC) networks that can connect instances and containers across any cloud environment. Today's announcement comes on the heels of last week's Pertino release, where the company said its Cloud Network Engine service would be added to Docker containers.
The Dell Cloud Marketplace will offer the Cloud Network Engine through a set of API integrations, and customers will be able to subscribe to and provision Pertino cloud networks right from the Marketplace. After subscribing, customers will have the option to use Pertino to quickly create VPCs, and the ability to add or move instance and containers within those VPCs.
A network-as-a-service platform, the Cloud Network Engine enables any size of business to manage and maintain cloud networks. As part of Pertino's software-defined networking (SDN) strategy, the Cloud Network Engine aims to be agile and ultra-reliable for customers. More than 12,000 organizations use Pertino's Cloud Network Engine service to build cloud networks and to connect devices and cloud instances.
"For the less initiated folks that don't live in the cloud world day in and day out, it can be intimidating because there are so many different players out there, so many different services, and those services are always changing," says Pertino Chief Marketing Officer Todd Krautkremer. "[The Dell Cloud Marketplace] helps you compare cloud platforms, different pricing levels, and when you decide what you want, you don't have to learn a whole bunch of interactions or commands to deploy."
The collaboration has been in the works since this summer, and Pertino's addition to the Dell Cloud Marketplace will be available next year. Krautkremer notes Dell's large footprint and says Pertino is excited to be a part of that channel. He went on to say there will be other partnerships that will continue to play a role in extending the company's market reach.
