Orange this week tapped Palo Alto Networks' Prisma Cloud platform to protect its own internal cloud migration.
The French managed service provider will use several platform features including its cloud workload protection and cloud secure posture management features to secure hosts and containerized workloads and ensure multi-cloud compliance and governance requirements are respected.
The partnership addresses Orange's growing reliance on cloud workloads and storage, said Steve Jarrett, SVP of data and artificial intelligence at Orange Innovation, in a statement. “With operations in 26 countries, we need a set of cloud security solutions that can operate across clouds and countries whilst delivering best-in-class security.”
Announced in 2019, Palo Alto Networks bills Prisma Cloud as a one-stop-shop for secure cloud migrations. The platform includes four products that govern access, protect data, and secure applications across multiple clouds. These include Prisma Access, Prisma SaaS, Prisma Public Cloud, and the company's VM-series virtualized firewalls.
Orange is the latest service provider to deploy Palo Alto Networks' cloud security platform. Last fall, ElevenPaths deployed Prisma Cloud for security policy enforcement and compliance on its network.
This week's announcement comes just over a month after Orange announced Palo Alto Networks' Prisma Access and Prisma SD-WAN would power its secure access service edge (SASE) offering.
SASE saw widespread adoption in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as enterprises grapple with how to support a large, remote and hybrid workforces.
Palo Alto Networks was among the first major security vendors to throw its weight behind the Gartner-coined product category, which combines elements of SD-WAN, zero-trust network access, secure web gateway, cloud access security broker, and cloud-based firewalls.
In a recent blog post, Orange highlighted Palo Alto Networks’s SD-WAN capabilities — acquired from its $420 million CloudGenix purchase — and the ability to inspect bidirectional traffic, including encrypted web traffic, regardless of its origin or destination.
Orange joins a growing number of managed service providers and network operators deploying Palo Alto Network's SASE platform. Earlier this year both AT&T and Comcast Business selected Palo Alto Networks to power their managed SASE services.
