OmniOn Power has launched a new family of high-power, non-isolated DC/DC bus converters called the Osprey family. Designed to cater to the power needs of applications such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), the converters achieve full load efficiency exceeding 97% at a 12VDC output. The Osprey product line includes models rated at 2-kilowatt (kW), 1.6kW, and 1.3kW, with the 2kW variant among the highest-powered bus converters available in quarter-brick sizes.

The demand for efficient power solutions is driven by the increasing power consumption of AI server racks. Vito Savino, leader of the data center and wireline segment at OmniOn Power, highlighted that the growing power consumption necessitates solutions that provide high efficiency and power density to support advanced workloads.

With efficiencies peaking at 97.6%, the Osprey converters feature a 40-60VDC input range, converting unregulated DC rack voltages into regulated 12VDC output power, which is essential for high-performance GPUs. They incorporate advanced features such as digital control and synchronous rectification technology, while also ensuring low output ripple and noise.

The converters are designed to operate in a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and include built-in protections against overcurrent, overvoltage, and temperature faults. A PMBus interface is also integrated for power management.

OmniOn Power's Osprey non-isolated bus converters are meant to assist customers in effectively managing the power challenges that come with modern AI and data center demands.
