Nvidia Enterprise Business SVP Shanker Trivedi announced his retirement, stepping down after 17 years at the chip giant.
In a LinkedIn post, Trivedi thanked Nvidia’s CEO and EVP, among others, writing: “It has been an incredible journey, leading, driving, and nurturing the growth of the data center and ProViz (Professional Visualization) businesses. ... Thank you, Jensen Huang and Jay Puri, for giving me the opportunity to work with you and build this business. … It’s now time to slow down from the 9-9-7 life, but stay current and engaged in the AI industry. Thanks and very best wishes to Nvidia for future growth.”
Trivedi began at Nvidia in 2009 as VP for enterprise sales and business development before becoming SVP in 2016. Various accomplishments over the years listed in his post included “winning the first GPU-accelerated HPC supercomputing centers” in the U.S., Europe, and India, as well as persuading Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to design and sell graphic processing unit (GPU)-accelerated servers and help Taiwanese original design manufacturers (ODMs) to become original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like the pair.
Prior to Nvidia, Trivedi worked as chief marketing officer for SAP and web conferencing firm Yugma.
In a nine-year stint at Sun Microsystems, the exec was director for two years before becoming VP in 1998. He joined Sun after a two year as director for IBM, a role which ended in 1996; he’d previously worked as director International Computers Ltd (ICL).
Trivedi’s replacement has yet to be named.
