Constl is partnering with Nokia in deploying a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical transport network across India.
The Indian communication service provider (CSP) will utilize Nokia’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) platforms in the endeavor, launching first in the data center hub of Mumbai before traversing key national corridors of its long-distance network across Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi.
Enabling high-capacity metro and data center interconnectivity (DCI), the partnership was said to meet India’s growing need for AI workloads, cloud computing, and over-the-top (OTT) services.
“By bringing together Constl’s nationwide fiber footprint with Nokia's advanced photonic technology, we're laying the foundation for the next generation of digital innovation in India," Ankit Goel, chairman and founder of Constl parent Space World Group, explained in a statement.
“Our partnership with Constl marks a significant milestone for India's digital future. By deploying Nokia's advanced 1830 PSS optical transport network, we are providing the high-capacity, ultra-reliable foundation needed to power next-generation AI, cloud services, and seamless digital experiences,” Vito Di Maria, VP for optical networks in Asia Pacific at Nokia, added.
Nokia’s 1830 PSS has seen action in another recent deployment courtesy of Altafiber, in support of a multigigabit network expansion in Hawaii and Ohio. Alongside PSS, Altafiber will deploy Nokia’s Lightspan 25 Gb/s (25G) passive optical network (PON), IP routing, and optical network platform, alongside Nokia’s 7750 Service Routers, and the vendor’s Deepfield security platform.
MX Fiber also enlisted Nokia to support a new high-speed backbone network traversing Southeast Mexico, utilizing 1830 PSS and Nokia’s Flex-Grid DWDM offering for seven new DWDM routes, with line capacity growth up to 2.4 Tb/s set to be offered.
Nokia has also launched new shelf hardware in its PSS offerings, with the 1830 PSS-hc, which includes both the Finnish vendor’s PSS-10hc and PSS-4hc offerings, designed as a three-fold upgrade to its 1830 PSS services.
The firm said the high-capacity shelf offers up to 60% lower power consumption per bit, bolstering its push into AI infrastructure.
