Indian telecom service provider Microscan Infocommtech has partnered with Nokia to deploy its optical network solution to boost bandwidth in Mumbai and Pune.
Nokia’s photonic service engine (PSE) technologies will help grow Microscan’s capacity requirements amid an influx of bandwidth from enterprises, financial firms, and hyperscalers.
The vendor’s solution includes a photonic service switch (PSS) capable of supporting 400G+ high-speed wave services, enabling Microscan to meet both customer demands for its newly-built L0 ASON network in Maharashtra.
The partnership will also look to support Microscan’s further expansion efforts in Western India, with the provider looking to build out its infrastructure in Gujarat.
“Starting with [the] Maharashtra region, we plan to build a nationwide National Long Distance (NLD) network to gain a crucial edge in addressing the ever-increasing bandwidth demands of our customers,” said Sandeep Donde, Microscan’s founder and managing director.
“The new dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) backbone will help us improve uptime against fiber cuts, making our network more resilient and reliable. In addition, it will allow us to deliver higher service level agreements and develop new use cases.”
“Delivered over a cloud-optimized platform, Nokia’s solution will provide Microscan with the opportunity to efficiently unlock new use cases for its hyperscalers and large enterprise customers,” said Vito Di Maria, VP of optical networks at Nokia Asia Pacific.
Nokia’s network efforts in India come after the vendor supported similar deployments in Southeast Mexico. The company deployed its network tech to aid MX Fiber’s high-speed backbone network, aiming to provide high-capacity connectivity to one of the country’s most populous yet underserved regions.
