Nimbix is using its Jarvice high performance computing (HPC) cloud platform to help customers leverage machine learning tools.

The Dallas-based company, which describes itself as a "purpose-built" cloud provider, typically works with customers that do complex tasks that require high performance computing power.

Leo Reiter, CTO of Nimbix, says that by using machine learning APIs, Jarvice can distribute the power of neural networks to smaller organizations, giving them more computing power for breakthroughs in areas like life sciences, Internet of Things (IoT), and automotive.

“They can use our API, and our API is rapid fire and runs whatever workflow necessary,” Reiter says.

He says that because machine learning and deep learning are designed to mimic the brain, customers can take all their data and feed it through algorithms to get better predictions of certain outcomes. Because Nimbix’s Jarvice platform is intended for high performance computing this means that customers can run jobs quickly.

“These are computational-intensive uses cases,” Reiter says. “We are not too interested in lightweight Web cases.”

Reiter believes that Jarvice’s machine learning capabilities will be important to IoT because it will be able to help companies process large quantities of data that is being aggregated to different locations. Machine learning helps push the prediction part of data to improve performance. “We are seeing long-running analytics that produce concrete results,” he says.

Nimbix was founded in 2010 and is privately held. The company says Blackwell Energy Group, Silver Creek Ventures, Tech Wildcatters, and Aristos Ventures are part of its investment team.
