Top 10 SDN Networking Contributor Articles on SDxCentral for 1H 2013

Read these posts to come up to speed on the latest for SDN, Network Virtualization, Network Overlays, and NFV as of mid-2013

After almost 10 days away from SDxCentral while on the road visiting family, enjoying the sights of southern California, chasing kids, and eating killer tacos -- I pondered a question in my inbox from someone asking who are some top thought leaders on SDN networking and which of their articles should they be reading during their summer vacation.  Shamefully, my precious little quite time during vacation was occupied with Angry Birds Rio and not SDN networking -- though for those of you more dedicated souls -- here's the SDN holiday reading list.

  • Isabelle GUIS wrote a killer 4-part series on SDN start-ups you should be tracking -- this list has held up amazingly well over the last six months:  Part 1;  Part 2; Part 3, and Part 4
  • Peter Christy not only is Peter one of the most genuine people you'll ever meet -- he's also very well versed in the history of networking and likely outcomes for SDN.  One of my favorites is: VMWorld 2012 Update – Question to VMware: “So Pat, why so much for Nicira?” followed by:  Occupy San Jose: OpenFlow and Open Networking, and SDN: Are You Sure You Want Applications To Program The Network?
  • Prayson Pate does a fantastic job articulating NFV and SDN: What’s the Difference?
  • Kelly Herrell discuss OpenDaylight and it's significance:  OpenDaylight Project: The Speed Promise
  • Michael Bushong articulates why everyone datacenter operator should bone up on Photonics in the  The Merging of Trends SDN and Photonics in the Datacenter; followed by Nikos Theodosopoulos explaining more about the raising importance of Optics and SDN in Quien Es Mas Macho: Software or Optics?
  • Markus Nispel talks about the battles between network flow in: SDN And The Forgotten Data Plane – Is My Flow Equal To Your Flow?

There are plenty more awesome contributed articles on SDxCentral - which can be found at SDxCentral’s Guest Blog Posts
