Mplify (formerly MEF) has outlined more details ahead of its upcoming revamp to its Carrier Ethernet certification program.

The MEF 3.0 certification is being rebranded as the Mplify Carrier Ethernet for Business certification, with the facelift providing operators with enhanced benchmarking capabilities to measure performance across network services.

The reworked 3.0 will allow previously certified members to transition to the newly named certification. Mplify will also introduce a new maintenance program to ensure certifications remain relevant over time. Organizations pay once per certification, along with a “predictable annual maintenance fee” to keep credentials alive.

“Carrier Ethernet has powered reliable business connectivity for over two decades. Its global footprint and extensive interconnections position it to play a critical role in AI transport alongside wavelength-based connectivity,” said Kevin Vachon, Mplify’s COO.

Alongside the revamped 3.0 program, Mplify is launching an all-new Carrier Ethernet for AI certification.

Revealed back in November, the program will support operators validating their networks’ efficiency at handling AI models. The ultimate aim is to quash increasing operator claims that their infrastructure is AI-ready.

“As AI-driven services scale, service and technology providers need ongoing validation to demonstrate that networks can support both mainstream business requirements and emerging AI transport demands,” Vachon added.
