Meter expanded its executive suite with two new hires.

Pete Atkin is joining the firm as channel and partnerships lead, having most recently served as chief revenue officer at Mashgin. Atkin also spent nearly four years at IoT provider Samsara where he served as VP and GM of Samsara Industrial, and had a previous five-year stint at Cisco.

That Cisco experience included VP for channels and services for global Meraki sales at the networking giant. Atkin initially worked in director roles for Meraki prior to its Cisco buyout.

On his appointment, Atkin commented: “I’ve spent my career scaling sales and partner teams as companies move from early traction to sustained growth, and Meter has clearly reached that point," Atkin noted in a statement on the latest move. "The approach this team is taking aligns with how enterprises actually operate today, and the demand is already there. I couldn’t be more excited to join during this period of growth and help sustainably scale the business alongside our partners.”

Cisco veteran TJ Michie, meanwhile, will lead sales for Meter’s strategic enterprise accounts, focusing on demand across manufacturing, health care, retail, and education.

Michie spent 15 years at Cisco, joining the firm in 2005 and acting as account manager for commercial and federal clients, before being a regional sales manager for Cisco Meraki in 2012. That Meraki history saw him leave the subsidiary as senior director and theater lead for U.S. commercial sales in 2020, before taking on VP roles for video device maker Neat and cloud compute business Fastly. He joins Meter from an advisory growth partner role at military discount fintech VeteranCrowd Rewards.

Meter framed both hires as part of its next phase of growth, with a broad investment in its sales and partner organization. The firm claimed it had tripled its sales and channel capacity in the last year, supporting what it called an exponential increase in demand, burgeoning partner ecosystem including the likes of Lumen, and broader, more complex customer deployments.

Founded in 2015, Meter delivers a network-as-a-service (NaaS) platform made up of software and hardware for customers ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to larger businesses.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has been a key investor, having co-led a $35 million Series B round for the firm last year.

Most recently, in June 2025, Meter raised $170 million in a Series C round, with the start up currently valued at $1 billion.
