Lenovo unveiled a slew of data storage and virtualization infrastructure solutions aimed at AI and enterprise workloads.

The new ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile offerings aim to take advantage of firms looking to modernize their legacy systems.

In a not-so-subtle nod to the goings on at Broadcom's VMware division, Lenovo's executive director and GM of data storage said that “disruptions in enterprise virtualization strategies” are prompting organizations to consider making changes to their stack.

“These new offerings provide the security, flexibility, and performance to optimize enterprise applications and power enterprises to extract maximum value from data,” Stuart McRae added.

The new ThinkSystem series are high-speed, all-flash storage systems tailored for virtualized environments. While its ThinkAgile line is a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) offering, bringing together computing, storage, and networking into one system.

Among the specialized Lenovo offerings are:

ThinkSystem DS Series Storage Arrays – an all-flash storage-area network (SAN) block storage system designed to be simple to deploy and manage for virtualized environments, targeting performance and efficiency bottlenecks.

ThinkAgile FX Series – HCI with an open architecture that supports seamless conversion between select HCI solutions without replacing hardware – offering investment protection amid VMware uncertainty.

ThinkAgile MX Series for Microsoft Azure Local – which comes in two variants: one with disaggregated external fiber-channel SAN storage for greater enterprise storage support, and another with Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 GPUs to power AI inferencing capabilities directly within Microsoft's Azure Local environment.

There’s also the ThinkAgile HX Series for AI, which features Nutanix’s cloud-native Enterprise AI (NAI) software stack, enabling customers in virtualized and distributed containerized environments to deploy, run, and scale AI models in minutes.

Beyond hardware, Lenovo is offering lifecycle services, including deployment assistance and ongoing support. The vendor is also promoting its TruScale model, essentially a pay-for-what-you-use offering rather than large upfront purchases, in a bid to entice organizations hedging their modernization projects due to cost.

“Designed to provide a modern foundation for enterprises and mid-size businesses achieving AI innovations, this announcement combines complementary hardware, software, and services offerings to help deploy, manage, and unleash the true potential of enterprise data,” the vendor said in a statement.
