Intel named a trio of new top executives to lead its government affairs, marketing and communications, and technology strategy, capping off a whirlwind year for the chip giant.
Robin Colwell was named SVP of government affairs, where she will lead the company’s global engagement with policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders. This will be bolstered by Colwell’s most recent role as deputy assistant to President Donald Trump and deputy director of the National Economic Council.
The U.S. government recently took a nearly 10% stake in Intel, which it quickly increased to nearly 15%, with those funds coming through various government incentive programs.
“Robin’s broad experience and deep understanding of complex legal and policy environments will be invaluable to Intel,” Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, noted in a statement. “She has a rare ability to navigate dynamic policy environments and deliver outcomes that benefit businesses, policymakers, and the communities they serve.”
Intel also appointed Shea Wechesser as SVP and chief marketing and communications officer (CMCO), where she will lead Intel’s global marketing and communications organization. Wechesser previously served as chief marketing officer at AI platform provider SambaNova, and spent nearly a decade in global marketing and communication roles at Cisco.
Pushkar Ranade, who currently serves as chief of staff to Tan, added the interim CTO role, where he will guide the company’s technology roadmap. Ranade has spent more than 17 years off-and-on at Intel, including the last 10 years in senior engineering and technical advisory roles.
The appointments come after a hectic 12 months for the beleaguered chip maker. This included the high-profile resignation of former CEO Pat Gelsinger; a drastic reorganization around current CEO Tan that included thousands of job cuts and a short-lived quarrel with Trump; and a more recent $5 billion investment from Nvidia and $2 billion from Japan-based telecom operator and investor SoftBank.
