After being launched in September, FlowCommand from Saisei will now be offered through the new HP SDN App Store, the companies are announcing today. As a new member of the global HP AllianceOne partner program, Saisei has also been showing off FlowCommand's capabilities at HP Discover this week in Barcelona.

FlowCommand, part of what Saisei dubs network performance enforcement (NPE) products, offers real-time visibility and control of flows on HP SDN networks, giving HP users the ability to speed up cloud deployments, broaden network capacity, curb security attacks and user application crashes.

According to Jeff Paine, vice president of marketing at Saisei, HP approached Saisei to differentiate the HP App Store's offerings. With FlowCommand in the App Store, users will have the ability to see the rest of the traffic on the network that wouldn't be visible to an OpenFlow-only type of device, Paine says. This provides better visibility, even with micro-flows. Paine also notes that while FlowCommand is still in stage one, it's possible that an HP SDN controller could be the enforcer down the road.

With FlowCommand, HP SDN customers will be able to build networks with greater performance, Saisei claims. Removing the TCP/IP requirement for data queuing, organizations will be able to utilize FlowCommand to run their networks at a heightened rate — more than 95 percent capacity.

FlowCommand will be available for download through the HP SDN App Store after its appearance in Barcelona, and customers can try a 60-day free trial before purchasing.
