FNT Software joined the Fiber Broadband Association (FBA).
The German-headquartered software vendor, which services IT, telecom, and data center markets worldwide, said the membership reflected its focus on the North American broadband market.
FNT currently operates an Americas division headquartered in New York, with customers based across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Specifically, the firm provides real-time documentation of complex fiber infrastructures and their associated services, with a promise of helping U.S. operators meet growing bandwidth demands and targets.
FNT Software joins players such as Prysmian Group and Altice USA with its membership of the FBA, an association focused on supporting and accelerating fiber deployment across North America.
One of the group’s efforts is broadband access in underserved communities in the U.S. That ambition has been part served by the $42 billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, which includes funding for the expansion and extension of middle-mile infrastructure – broadband infrastructure that does not connect directly to an end-user location – for unserved or underserved communities across U.S. states.
Vendors such as Ribbon Communications have worked on middle-mile network solutions for the likes of Vibrant Broadband. Vibrant’s peers include Point Broadband, a vendor of high-speed fiber-to-the-premise internet serving rural markets, which this week merged with Clearwave Fiber to create what was touted as one of the U.S. largest independent fiber operators, serving 12 states and more than 500,000 homes and businesses.
Commenting on the FBA membership, Steve MacDiarmid, managing executive director, FNT Software, said the company looked forward to "collaborating with industry leaders to share best practices and provide solutions that help telcos plan, build, and operate fiber networks with confidence, ultimately accelerating broadband access and supporting digital equity nationwide."
