Fiber firm euNetworks appointed Nick Walden as its chief revenue officer.

The London-based executive joined from Infinera, the now-Nokia-owned optical networking firm, where he led the brand’s global sales efforts.

Walden brings more than 30 years of experience working in the telecom industry, having also previously held leadership roles at Ciena.

As euNetworks’ chief revenue officer, he’ll be responsible for the firm's sales and commercial strategy.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining euNetworks, building on their strong growth and momentum as a critical bandwidth infrastructure provider across Europe,” Walden said.

“[Walden] has an outstanding record of driving sales growth and brings an abundance of industry knowledge and leadership experience,” euNetworks CEO Marisa Trisolino noted in a statement. “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do at euNetworks, and I’m excited to work alongside Walden and his team to accelerate our customers’ growth ambitions.”

Trisolino was appointed in April, having previously served as CEO of CMC Networks.

She leads a company that builds both city and long-haul fiber networks to connect data centers and data hubs across Europe. EuNetworks boasts a sizable fiber network, including a long-haul system that spans some 17 countries. The firm directly connects more than 560 data centers.

The firm will, however, have to exit its data center in Amsterdam after colocation customers were asked to vacate the facility.

Andrew Holder, euNetworks’ COO, told SDxCentral’s sister title DCD in July that its existence at the Paul van Vlissingenstraat (PVV) facility was due to the landlord planning to redevelop the site.
