Duos Edge AI has expanded its partnership with fiber optic network provider FiberLight to build out low-latency, edge computing infrastructure in Texas.

The expansion will see the deployment of Duos Edge AI’s modular edge data centers (EDCs) that are SOC 2 Type II compliant. Underpinning these will be FiberLight’s fiber network, which spans more than 13,000 route miles across Texas, with direct links to San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Houston, McAllen, Laredo, and El Paso.

Both firms have already established two new EDCs in Corpus Christi in Texas, as well as connecting rural schools in areas including Amarillo.

According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau figures, nearly seven million people in Texas still lack broadband access. Through joint planning around site selection, connectivity, and turnkey deployment, the firms promised to build out infrastructure in support of “education, healthcare, enterprise, and AI-driven applications in both urban and rural communities.”

Duos Edge AI is a subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida-based Duos Technologies, which specializes in machine vision and AI to analyze fast-moving objects such as trains.

Led by EdgePresence and Colo5 founder Doug Recker, the company was launched in July 2024 with a $2.2 million funding round.

August of this year saw an additional $40 million of funding to expand across the USA. Duos Edge AI said it is underway to contract 15 of its EDCs by the end of 2025, with active deployments in Texas and others planned for the Midwest and Southeastern U.S. regions.
