Neocloud darling CoreWeave has enticed an engineering VP from Google’s Distributed Cloud (GDC) platform.
Sridevi Ravuri joins Coreweave as SVP of engineering, where she’ll lead CoreWeave’s compute, storage, and networking teams. Confirming her exit on LinkedIn, the exec said: “I am super proud of what we have accomplished in transforming a large-scale object storage system into a primary storage system for low-latency analytics and AI workloads. In addition to technology and product lessons, what I will carry forward are the lifelong friendships I have made.”
Ravuri joined Google in 2024 to work on the hyperscaler’s Gemini Cloud Assist AI tool and would work her way up to leading engineering for Google's Object storage system. In late 2025, she took responsibility for GDC, a fully managed software and hardware solution for data centers and edge locations.
Prior to Google, Ravuri spent more than a decade at VMware across a handful of roles, culminating in VP of research and development for the vSphere Compute (ESX) platform. Ravuri also serves as an advisory board member for the nonprofit Women Who Code.
On her time leading GDC engineering, Ravuri wrote: “It helped me learn all aspects of cloud and AI in regulated industries. While doing that, I also met some of the most hardworking, talented, and passionate engineering/ product teams … thank you for being on this intense journey with me.”
The ex-Googler joins one of the top-tier GPU clouds trying to shake up her former hyperscaler employers.
Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant for cloud AI infrastructure named CoreWeave alongside Lambda as the neoclouds coming closest to challenging hyperscalers. CoreWeave, though, pushes against the neocloud label, with EVP Chen Goldberg – a former Googler who Ravuri previously worked with – backing a term used by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang: “AI-native cloud.”
