Cohesity has expanded its collaboration with Red Hat to enhance data protection for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization environments. This integration, part of the Cohesity Data Cloud, allows customers to secure and protect data from virtual machines and containers using Cohesity DataProtect and NetBackup. The improvements aim to simplify backup and recovery operations while strengthening defenses against cyber threats such as ransomware.
Customers utilizing Cohesity DataProtect and NetBackup can now manage backup and recovery for their Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization workloads using existing workflows. The Cohesity platform, running on Red Hat OpenShift, implements zero-trust principles and incorporates robust security features, including data immutability and strict access controls, to protect against cyber attacks.
This announcement builds on a long-standing partnership between Cohesity and Red Hat, which includes the adoption of Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the foundational operating system for the Cohesity Data Cloud. The companies commit to delivering comprehensive data resilience and management features that support future workloads for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
Matt Hicks, president and CEO of Red Hat, stated, “We are excited to expand our relationship with Cohesity to bring their data protection and cyber resilience capabilities to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization customers.” Sanjay Poonen, CEO of Cohesity, emphasized that the integration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux strengthens their customers' data security against potential threats.
