Cato Networks has launched a Point of Presence (PoP) in Oslo to extend the reach of its secure access service edge (SASE) Cloud Platform.

The launch brings Cato’s total Nordic PoPs to four, adding to existing interconnects in Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Stockholm, each of which is situated within its designated location and contains dozens of its proprietary Single Pass Cloud Engine (SPACE) instances running in parallel.

The latest PoP will help expand Cato’s network security offerings to users in Norway and across the Nordics. The vendor already supports major brands in the region, such as beer giant Carlsberg.

The firm also counts several local retailers among its users, with electronics retailer Elkjøp utilizing its SASE Cloud Platform to streamline its IT environment.

“Previously, a simple network change could take six weeks due to vendor coordination, but with Cato, we can accomplish this in seconds,” said Reno Dokken, infrastructure manager at Elkjøp.

Cato’s PoP expansion comes amid a period of strength for its SASE offerings.

The vendor was recently designated as a strong performer in Forrester’s Wave ranking of SASE solution providers.

Cato was also lauded in Gartner’s latest SASE provider analysis, drawing praise for its agentic AI plans and marketing strategy targeted at larger enterprise customers. The analyst firm estimated Cato had around 2,500 active SASE platform enterprise customers.

Beyond expanding its geographic footprint, Cato recently snapped up AI cybersecurity firm Aim Security to further augment its flagship platform. Cato Networks already leverages AI to enhance its SASE platform through threat detection and policy automation, with the acquisition set to integrate Aim's specialized AI governance capabilities.
