AV-Comparatives has published its annual Summary Report for 2024, evaluating 16 leading consumer security products for Windows. The report highlights the performance of these products through rigorous testing conducted throughout the year.

The evaluated security solutions included Avast Free Antivirus, AVG Internet Security, Avira Free Antivirus, Bitdefender Total Security, ESET HOME Security Essential, F-Secure Internet Security, G DATA Total Security, Kaspersky Standard, McAfee Total Protection, Microsoft Defender, Norton Antivirus Plus, Panda Free Antivirus, Quick Heal Internet Security, Total Defense Essential Anti-Virus, TotalAV Antivirus Pro, and Trend Micro Internet Security.

Key tests measured each product’s ability to protect against real-world threats, detect malicious programs, defend against targeted attacks, and operate efficiently. ESET HOME Security Essential received the Product of the Year 2024 title, achieving the highest rating in all seven tests.

Other top performers included Avast Free Antivirus and AVG Internet Security, both earning gold in the Real-World Protection Test, while Bitdefender Total Security and Kaspersky Standard were recognized for their exceptional malware protection and false-positive rates, respectively.

The report also indicated areas for improvement for some products, specifically Trend Micro and Quick Heal Internet Security, urging further development to meet industry standards. Additionally, a comprehensive user-interface review provided insights into usability across all tested products.
