IoT security vendor Armis is one of the fastest growing companies in North America — and the fastest growing cybersecurity software company — according to Deloitte’s annual North America Technology Fast 500, which ranks the continent’s fastest-growing companies in the technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences, fintech, and energy tech sectors.

Deloitte ranks the 500 firms based on percentage fiscal year revenue growth from 2017 to 2020. Overall, the 2021 Technology Fast 500 companies achieved revenue growth ranging from 212% to 87,037% over the 3-year time frame with a median growth rate of 521%.

Armis, which ranked No. 25 on the list, grew 8,826% over that period.

Armis Grows Fast and Furious

“Armis is on an amazing journey as the largest companies in the world continue to look to our unparalleled expertise and time-to-value,” Chief Strategy Officer Peter Doggart wrote in an email to SDxCentral.

Doggart claims that Armis provides 100% asset visibility across IT, operational technology (OT), IoT, industrial IoT (IIoT), and internet of medical things devices (IoMT). These capabilities come from its flagship agentless IoT security platform, which it launched in 2017, and its newer agentless IT asset visibility and management tool that it rolled out earlier this year.

The vendor claims this product can see almost five times more assets — this includes laptops, servers, clouds, virtual machines, and IoT devices — compared to standalone endpoint detection and response and configuration and vulnerability management tools from Qualys, Tenable, CrowdStrike, and VMware Carbon Black.

Armis’ visibility and security technologies work across clouds, networks, endpoints, managed and unmanaged devices, as well as wireless LTE and 5G networks.

“Entering the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 for the first time with a ranking of 25 is confirmation that Armis has the industry’s most robust partner ecosystem, supercharging hundreds of existing IT and security investments,” Doggart wrote.

In January 2020, venture capital firm Insight Partners bought the unicorn startup for $1.1 billion, marking the first cybersecurity acquisition of that year and the largest-ever enterprise IoT software purchase at the time.

Deloitte Technology Fast 500

The Deloitte Technology Fast 500 companies span more than 37 states and provinces across North America. California’s Silicon Valley continues to nurture fast-growing companies, leading the regional representation with 21% of this year’s Fast 500.

Meanwhile, the New York metro area was represented by 12% of the winning companies; New England by 8%; greater Los Angeles by 6%; and greater Washington State, Texas, and Washington, DC accounted for 5% each of the winning companies.

Software companies also continue their winning streak in the Technology Fast 500 listing, representing the majority of the winners for the 26th-straight year (73%), beating last year’s record-breaking percentage in the history of the rankings. Of the software companies on the list, enterprise infrastructure and productivity (26%), fintech companies (19%), and digital platforms (18%) comprise the leading subsectors.

Since the creation of the rankings, software companies have consistently made up the majority of the winners with a median growth rate of 520% in 2021.
